What a year!
We at ASASE never thought that this year will be easy, after the challenging 2023, but we managed to accomplish a lot in 2024 and we end the year with good energy going towards 2025.
We have now 3 operations in ACCRA with the launch of the Weija Plastic Lumber Plant in October, totaling a capacity of 6000T/year in plastic waste diverted from litter. Thank You to our partners, THE ALLIANCE TO END PLASTIC WASTE and THE EUROPEAN UNION for your steady support. Together we increased our workforce to 147 direct jobs with 53% of equipment operators being women. Also this year we handed over to the employees of CASH IT! TW a large share of the assets value of the plant!
In May 2024, we received the VERRA Plastic Waste Reduction Standard Certification. Also, 2024 became the first of 7 years of scale up projects enabled by the innovative outcome based financing bonds from World Bank in collaboration with CITIBank.

This makes possible that we grow our impact in plastic waste prevented from the oceans to 12000T/year and, importantly, we bring our Community Engagement one notch further to effectively supporting waste pickers in their Just Transition in Ghana.
